Coding and Programming
Software development has become the basis for much technological advancement today and even in the future. Our Coding and Programming package is for kids ages 10-16 and it provides a hands-on learning experience for these young students who are exposed to the relationship between our physical world (represented by our models) and the virtual world of computers and programming software.
Benefits of Coding and Programming include:
• Creative thinking
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Improved problem-solving skills
Lego Mindstorm EV3 Software
Using our Bricks 4kidz model plans and LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 software, students are able to develop programs upon which model builds function. Children are introduced to the EV3 graphic programming language, thus equipping them early enough to succeed in a technology based work environment. Our emphasis on STEM concepts and the need for teamwork cannot be overemphasized as kids learn real life skills whilst having great fun!
Scratch
Invented by MIT, Scratch is an open source system that is an ideal tool for teaching kids how to code. The ability to code is a key component of technology education today. Our coding program will teach students important strategies to enhance their logic and problem-solving skills, as well as help them work toward becoming technological innovators of tomorrow. Our programs offer skill level progression of coding concepts as students advance through multiple levels from beginner through advanced. Students will build models with LEGO® Education’s WeDo or EV3 elements, then control their models with the codes they write.
Video Game Design
Students will develop a range of coding and problem-solving skills as they create fun video games. Game designers will think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively to create various video games. Each Game Design unit includes a themed mini-model built with LEGO® Bricks that will be the main character of all of the games. Each game progressively teaches more advanced capabilities within the video game design software. Students will be proud and excited to actually play their very own completed video games.
